Happiness = Reality – Expectations

Another great episode of Tim Ferriss podcast with Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert . Seriously wild ride. She has an amazing orientation on life and the universe that I think folks will find enjoyable.

A few highlights for me…

  • Her practice of “two way prayer” – which is basically a kind of seeing exercise
  • “Happiness = reality – expectations”
  • The story of the Dalai Lama surprised to learn that Americans have self-hatred (and it totally changing his work)
  • Her describing what is essentially a caretaker personality of “the relaxed woman”
  • Relaxation comes from: boundaries, priorities, & mysticism
  • A lesson on yoga: “no cherished outcome”
  • Her very different viewpoint on purpose, which she positions as “you’ll be notified”
